Reactions to the Women of Wisdom Education Series

The Women of Wisdom (WOW) Education Series provided opportunities for women throughout the Greater MetroWest community to engage with experts on a variety of significant topics. Held during three mornings and one evening in the comfort of women’s homes, the WOW series this winter/spring addressed a wide range of issues, including Understanding the Israeli Psyche, Woman of Valor, Building Bridges Between Israeli and American Jews, and Being a Jew in the 21st Century.

At the completion of the series, we asked women what they thought of this new Women’s Philanthropy education initiative. Here’s the buzz from this year’s sessions. We hope you will join us next year for a brand new WOW Education Series.

I loved all three of the sessions that I attended…. Attending the series was a great gift that I gave to myself; they were interesting and enriching.

I enjoyed Michal Barkai’s class the most. She was a funny, compelling, thoughtful speaker who had an amazing story with wonderful information to give to us about girls at risk in Israel.
Gerri Russo

I appreciated Moran and Noam’s presentations about the BDS movement... and the annihilation of Jewish identity and voice on college campuses.
Marcia Schuffman

I truly enjoyed the presentation about women of valor. I think the speaker was informative as well as intriguing…. Thank you for running this series!
Meryl Dicks

I was inspired by Michal who taught me that when you care enough about something and put your mind toward it, you can really make a difference.

I’m a lover of historical and Biblical stories, particularly when it helps me reflect on not just my life but includes the perspective of others. The Women of Valor session was fascinating because of Lisa’s in-depth study of the topic and because every single woman in the room participated in the discussion. Thank you Lisa Lisser!
Marcia Schuffman

I was particularly interested in the first presentation about the program for Israeli girls. It left me with lots to think about. Such a venture should be shared with the thought to replicate – a situation we can all relate to.

Archie and her partner’s presentation shows that advertising is effective for not just consumer goods but Judaism! I brought the shot glass to Passover Seder…. Thank you Women’s Philanthropy!
Marcia Schuffman

Archie’s discussion gave me great ideas to add to my own seder.

Don’t miss a session when Lisa Lisser is the teacher.
Ann Leeb

The Woman of Valor discussion was so interesting as it allowed me to hear and understand each woman’s perspective on what being a woman of valor means and helped me redefine for myself what it means to me. Lisa was an incredible teacher and facilitator.

I learned something from each program that was new and different that I didn’t know before and I am able to use in my everyday Jewish life.

After each program women reached out to me to say they learned something new that could change their lives in small but important ways.
