Getting Involved

AS JEWISH WOMEN, we share common bonds, values and passions. Through our UJA donations and hands-on volunteering, we take our place as leaders, change-makers, and community shapers.

Throughout the year, Women’s Philanthropy offers a variety of dynamic learning and social opportunities to grow as individuals and form connections with one another. Select what inspires you! Attend an educational program or visit one of our 22 local partner agencies, where you can see first-hand the impact of our collective giving. Or travel further afield on a Mission trip to learn more about how we improve the lives of Jews in Israel and around the world.

It’s easy to get involved... we can’t wait to welcome you!

Borinsky

The Arthur Borinsky Young Leadership Development Program is an entry point for learning about Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ. The program educates participants about Federation’s local and overseas agencies, the valued role of leadership in the community, and how money is raised and allocated to meet the needs of Jews locally and around the world. The eight-session morning program is designed for women only and covers topics such as Jewish mutual responsibility, Israel, overseas partners, the allocations process and a mini-mission to a local agency. It is an outstanding opportunity to connect with women who share a passion for the Jewish community and to learn how to take advantage of the many opportunities for involvement in the work of our Jewish Federation. We will be meeting in private homes throughout the Greater MetroWest community. For more information, click here.

Women’s Philanthropy Cell-a-thons

Cell-a-thons are graciously hosted in private homes throughout the Greater MetroWest area, including a light breakfast and an opportunity for our volunteers to solicit philanthropic gifts for the Annual UJA Campaign. Many of our donors enjoy hearing about important updates from our local agencies and a friendly voice to talk about their connection with Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ. The Annual Campaign enables us to do life changing and lifesaving work and respond to crisis locally, nationally, and internationally.

Mini-Missions

Women get a close-up look at the work Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ does with visits to our local partner agencies and initiatives. With 22 partner agencies in the Greater MetroWest NJ area, previous mini missions have including a visit to JESPY House in South Orange, where we participated in an art project and put together Hanukkah bags for the Jewish Community Center seniors and for children in a local hospital; an evening at the WAE (Wellness, Arts, Enrichment Center) with spouses, where we participated in an art project; and Jewish Family Service of Central NJ, where we participated in several hands-on activities.

Women of Wisdom Education Series

The Education Series typically includes four sessions: mornings and evening. These events are graciously hosted in private homes and include breakfast in the mornings and desserts in the evening for women in our Greater MetroWest community. Presented by Jewish teachers and other inspirational speakers, topics have included: How our Torah Texts Can Guide Us Toward a More Civil Discourse and Motivating our Kids to Find their Jewish Home on Campus.

If you would like to join the conversation or if you are interested in hosting a Women of Wisdom Education Series, please contact Susan Ferber at sferber@jfedgmw.org.
