Experiencing Women’s Philanthropy

by Jody Hurwitz Caplan, Vice President, Community Engagement

Each quarter the Women’s Philanthropy newsletter team meets to choose a topic on which to focus our next newsletter. Our goal is to inform and inspire readers – to explain how gifts to the UJA Campaign translate into services that change lives here, in Israel, and around the world, and to show why so many women choose to share their time and resources supporting Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ. We write about programs, events, and people with hopes that knowing more about Women’s Philanthropy will spark an interest in you to learn more and to participate more, and that, through these articles, we reduce barriers to involvement by introducing easy access points to become acquainted with Women’s Philanthropy. more

  • Remembering the Holocaust

This year, the Holocaust Council’s annual exhibit featured stories of women from the Greater MetroWest area who survived the atrocities of the Holocaust. For a younger generation of women who came to bear witness to these survivors’ accounts of suffering and courage, the exhibit was both moving and inspirational.

  • Words Worth Repeating

A record 185 women from Greater MetroWest attended Women’s Philanthropy’s Ladies Night Out this January and were treated to the moving words of keynote speaker Alison Lebovitz. But they also were inspired by the introductory comments of co-chair Lauren Siegel, who explained why she donates to, and how she benefits from, Jewish Federation. Lauren’s story, which echoes tales of many women in our community, is worth repeating.

  • Lessons Learned at Women’s Awareness Day

Held annually, Women’s Awareness Day provides women from across Greater MetroWest with an opportunity to socialize with one another at an elaborate breakfast and to listen to a featured guest speaker. Writer Jane Gomez reflects on why she enjoys attending this Women’s Philanthropy event every year and why speaker Jane Weitzman’s words resonated with her.

  • Reactions to the Women of Wisdom Education Series

At the completion of the series, we asked women what they thought of this new Women’s Philanthropy education initiative. Here’s the buzz from this year’s sessions. We hope you will join us next year for a brand new WOW Education Series.

  • President's Message

It has been a privilege and a pleasure to have served as President of Women’s Philanthropy of Greater MetroWest. Now as I reflect over these past two years, I am struck by the depth and the scope of all we have done and all I have learned. Looking back I feel like a kid in a candy store.
