September 2014 – What’s New in Women’s Philanthropy

This issue of the e-newsletter highlights some of the new programming Women’s Philanthropy is planning this year. In bringing back a Women’s Shabbaton and the Leadership Power Series and offering new opportunities like a Young Women’s Mission to Israel and the Center for Volunteerism, Women’s Philanthropy hopes to inspire you to learn, grow, and connect.

Also new this year is my position of Vice President, Community Engagement. In this role I look forward to helping all of our wonderful women learn about Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ and Women’s Philanthropy. I would like nothing more than to identify ways for all of us to contribute to the good work of Federation in ways that will be personally satisfying, meaningful, and rewarding.

If you know someone who might like to know more about our Jewish community or if you yourself are interested in taking a fresh look at Women’s Philanthropy, I hope you’ll contact me at caplan973@comcast.net.

What’s New in Leadership Development This Year?

By Lisa Lisser, VP Women’s Philanthropy - Leadership Development

Shalom Kulam (everyone), I’m Lisa Lisser and I am thrilled to take on the role of Vice President for Leadership Development. This new portfolio is designed to give you, the strong and committed Jewish women of Women’s Philanthropy of Greater MetroWest NJ, the tools to be great Jewish leaders.

We are happy to be rolling out a revamped version of the successful Leadership Power Series. This time around we engage you with a three-part series led by incredible scholars and experts who will motivate and inspire you to find your leadership voice. We want you to go forth after the series in strength and in confidence, knowing you have the skills to truly excel as a Jewish leader. The series will challenge you to think about what role you would like to play in the Jewish community and give you the tools to make your goals for yourself easy to attain. We are targeting the winter to begin this series and look forward to learning with you.

For those women who are looking for a Jewish learning experience on a broad range of topics, we have created an additional three- part education series. This will be a pure learning experience, or Torah lishma. We promise to pique your interest with our speakers and topics, and hope that you will walk away from each session with something new that will add to your life and your journey. Each topic will be presented by a different speaker/teacher and will include plenty of time for questions and discussion. It will be a lively and interesting opportunity to share ideas and debate issues that are timely and relevant to our lives. Please watch your email for information about when this series will begin.
