September 2014 – What’s New in Women’s Philanthropy

This issue of the e-newsletter highlights some of the new programming Women’s Philanthropy is planning this year. In bringing back a Women’s Shabbaton and the Leadership Power Series and offering new opportunities like a Young Women’s Mission to Israel and the Center for Volunteerism, Women’s Philanthropy hopes to inspire you to learn, grow, and connect.

Also new this year is my position of Vice President, Community Engagement. In this role I look forward to helping all of our wonderful women learn about Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ and Women’s Philanthropy. I would like nothing more than to identify ways for all of us to contribute to the good work of Federation in ways that will be personally satisfying, meaningful, and rewarding.

If you know someone who might like to know more about our Jewish community or if you yourself are interested in taking a fresh look at Women’s Philanthropy, I hope you’ll contact me at caplan973@comcast.net.

President’s Message

September 2014

It is with great optimism and enthusiasm that I begin my term as President of Women’s Philanthropy of Greater MetroWest. Our new slate of Vice Presidents has been busy discussing portfolios and sharing new ideas and exciting plans for the coming year. In early September more than 30 women from Greater MetroWest attended the International Lion of Judah Conference in NYC, where we raised more than $600,000 for our 2015 campaign. We are now gearing up for CHOICES on October 23, our premier fundraising event, which promises to be a fantastic evening as we honor Barbara Drench, our community’s Kipnis-Wilson/Friedland Award recipient, and hear the moving story of Linor Abargil.

This newsletter highlights some of the wonderful new Women’s Philanthropy events, programs and opportunities that will be made available throughout the year. My goal of incorporating education and outreach into all we do is well underway as we strive toward increasing volunteerism and leadership development across all aspects of Women’s Philanthropy.  Every woman in our community is valued as a volunteer and as a donor and participation at all levels is welcomed and greatly appreciated.

I invite you to join us, learn with us, get involved, and meet other inspiring and passionate women in our Greater MetroWest community. Discover for yourself how making a difference in the lives of others will surely become a meaningful and fulfilling part of your life.

Joan Schiffer Levinson
