The Peretz Family and Partnership 2Gether

For the Peretz family of Arad, Israel, the Federation is Partnership 2Gether program has had nothing short of a ripple-down — as well as “up” — effect. Ligal, an alumna of the Partnership’s Project Gesher program connecting high school teens in Israel and New Jersey, is now serving the Federation as a Rishona (young emissary). But the story doesn’t end with her. Her sister has joined Project Gesher’s next cohort, and her parents are now members of the Partnership 2Gether renewal committee in Arad, making their involvement a true family affair. read more

With the help of JFS MetroWest, a widow’s grief becomes an easier burden to bear

Joan S. is a 77-year-old widow who lost her husband shortly after their 50-year wedding anniversary. Struggling with depression, day-to-day tasks, and the overall adjustment of being alone eight months after his death, she realized she needed support. She reached out to JFS of MetroWest NJ. read more

Creating a Caring Community

The concept of chaplaincy is not native to Israel’s culture, but an NGO with ties to the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ is doing its part to change that. Dr. Benjamin Corn, the founder of Life’s Door (Tishkofet), a non-governmental organization in Israel that assists individuals facing illness and end-of-life issues, presented a program, “Creating a Caring Community Together.” read more

Twenty-nine years after the recording of the hit “We Are The World,“ people continue to need a helping hand, and both the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ and Jewish Community Foundation (JCF) are here to help. And just like they did a generation ago, caring people in our community are making their year-end gift to the UJA Campaign, and working with JCF to leave a legacy that will last for generations. read more
