This summer for 50 days approximately 5,000 missiles flew from Gaza into Israel. The result was an Israeli land incursion which uncovered Hamas’ secret plot to invade Israel through dozens of underground tunnels intended to kidnap and kill Israelis this Rosh Hashanah.

As Rosh Hashanah approaches, we must be thankful for the great miracle that the Jewish people prevailed to stop the might of Hamas against Israeli citizens. We must be thankful for the creation of the Iron Dome, without which the beautiful nation, to which we have been connected for 3,000 years and since ’48 we have nourished and brought back to life, might have been destroyed. We proudly thank the soldiers of the IDF and remember those whose lives were lost while protecting the Jewish people.

While the tunnels are gone (for now), we are seeing a rise of anti-Israel efforts already in the placement of a full page ad in the New York Times and Students for Justice in Palestine day of action taking place on the eve of Rosh Hashanah. The attempt at an increased public relations massacre is in the works. Here in the CRC, we will continue to do our part to ensure the safety and security of the Jewish people in the U.S.

This Rosh Hashanah it is with great fortune that the Jewish people will celebrate a new year with an intact Israel – quietly and in freedom. We will always remember the Rosh Hashanah Massacre that wasn’t – the modern day miracle.
