The traditional synagogue model has been showing signs of age in recent years. Across the country, attendance at services and membership numbers have been declining steadily for more than a decade, sparking many synagogues to rethink all aspects of their offerings. We’ve invited Rabbi David Ingber to lead an interactive seminar, Synagogue 10.0: Rethinking the Software and Hardware of Synagogue Life on Thursday, March 15, open to all members of the community, but registration required. more


IN OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY

The Community Gave Big at Sunday’s BIGGIVE– It was an energizing day in Greater MetroWest NJ as we hosted The BIGGIVE, featuring Challah Bake Jr., at two locations in the community. We raised much-needed dollars for the UJA Annual Campaign and learned about the important work Federation and its partner agencies do to care for those in need locally, in Israel, and around the world. more

Lace Makers of Horfeish – Community leader Miriam Seiden writes about her personal experiences with a group of Druze women from our partner community of Horfeish, Israel, who are coming to Greater MetroWest NJ this week to share their cooking and handicrafts with our community. more

Overcoming Barriers with Tzipi Zipper – All are welcome to meet and hear the inspiring story of Tzipi Zipper, a young Israeli-American woman who was injured while serving in the IDF and now defies stereotypes and overcomes barriers every day. more

 

YOUR IMPACT

Community Revisits Safety Systems in Wake of Parkland Shooting – Schools and synagogues throughout the area are constantly reviewing safety policies, as well as seeking guidance and taking advice from security professionals such as Federation’s Chief Security Officer Robert Wilson. PLUS: Day School leaders, including those from Greater MetroWest, call for common sense gun legislation. more

JFS MetroWest Offers Free Program to Help Navigate Mental Health for Teens

 

DID YOU KNOW? – Our Federation will be leading a delegation of students and community members in the March for Our Lives taking place in Newark on March 24, a student march for common sense gun legislation. We are offering several ways for community members, including teens who observe Shabbat, to come together as a community around this important event.
