We were fortunate to host at our Federation’s Annual Meeting Rabbi David Wolpe, named the most influential Rabbi in America by Newsweek magazine and one of the 50 most influential Jews in the world by the Jerusalem Post. His speech to several hundred people was inspiring, moving, and important.

Our mission as the Jewish people, Rabbi Wolpe said, is so much bigger than any one of us. Why? Because we do sacred, holy work and Federation is the best example of this paradigm: When we care, give, fight, and love, we’re not alone.

You can’t be a Jew, he said, without being haunted by history. But that also means that there are people from our past, who are no longer with us, who are proud of what we do.
