Nobody need wait a single moment*

We’ve all seen it on our TVs, on our computers, and in our newspapers. The Syrian refugee crisis has reached dire proportions. More than 11 million men, women, and children are so desperate to escape the violence and persecution of their homeland that they are risking their lives to do so. And this outpouring of humanity is not only overwhelming Syria’s neighboring countries but also now the European countries where these refugees are hoping to find a safe haven.

I’m proud that we can help you be part of the international response to this crisis. Through our support of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), a key partner for Federation’s vision and values around the world, you can help these refugees. The JDC’s Jewish Coalition for Syrian Refugees has expanded its scope and mandate from helping the refugees in Jordan to include refugees and migrants throughout Europe and the Middle East.

There are so many who need your help.
The time to act is now.
Every single life counts.

You can make a contribution by clicking here. One hundred percent of your donation will go to the Jewish Coalition for Syrian Refugees. We’ll continue to update you through social media and through the community on how you can help and on the impact of your gift.

So far, the Coalition has helped train Jordanian Red Crescent volunteers to carry out first-aid training for 2,000 Syrian refugees, distribute hygiene kits, help the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) with its resettlement processing, provide food for refugee children, train medical service providers, and more.

I’m so proud of our partners, and of the fact that we have the opportunity to not stand idly by. It’s critical that when there’s a humanitarian disaster of this size, our Jewish community play its part to alleviate suffering. We should be proud of the chance to show our values at work.

*The quote is from Anne Frank: “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”
