Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) of MetroWest helps underserved adults help themselves overcome barriers to employment by providing them with the tools and training necessary to prepare for, search for, find, get, keep, and excel in a job. Using a person-centered approach, our staff of experienced, highly-trained professionals meet our program participants where they are, help them identify their strengths and unique abilities, and work with them to create individualized career plans that outline a road map to fulfilling their own potential.

Founded in 1939 to help members of the Jewish community, as well as Eastern European immigrants and refugees, find work in the face of anti-Semitism in the workplace, both our mission and the populations we serve have greatly expanded as the needs of the local community have changed over the past 80+ years. Today, JVS of MetroWest provides vital assistance to the following, diverse populations:

  • Unemployed and underemployed job-seekers from all walks of life who are looking to make a career transition—in particular, Adults 50+ and recent college graduates
  • Immigrants and refugees from around the world
  • Adults who have physical, intellectual, and/or developmental disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Low-income individuals and families
  • Teens and young adults with disabilities who need assistance developing career goals and transitioning from high school to the adult world

To meet the needs of the populations we serve, JVS of MetroWest offers a myriad of programs and services:

  • Career counseling and job placement assistance, including help identifying transferable job skills, developing a personal career plan, creating strategic goals, networking, resume writing, interviewing, navigating today’s more complex job market, and one-on-one job search coaching and support
  • Adult Basic Education, English as a Second Language, High School Equivalency Exam preparation, and US Citizenship Exam preparation classes
  • Vocational Rehabilitation services, including comprehensive evaluation and assessment, career counseling, job skills training, individualized job coaching, and hands-on experiences
  • Need-based, interest-free student loans for college and graduate school students

Guided by our Jewish history and values, JVS of MetroWest remains committed to Maimonides teaching that helping people help themselves is the highest form of tzedakah, or social justice.
