About this Synagogue:
Congregation Ohr Shalom is a progressive congregation, affiliated with USCJ. We are a warm, active, down-to-earth and engaged egalitarian synagogue. Our facility, which had a substantial expansion and renovation in 2013, serves as a home for innumerable religious, community and cultural activities.

COS is our spiritual home. A place where we celebrate our greatest joys and find support for our most profound sorrows as we experience our rites of passage: births, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, marriages, illnesses, and the loss of loved ones. Our synagogue is a steadfast presence – the doors of COS are open each day for us, and our Rabbi and Cantor are always available for us when needed. COS encourages us to worship and grow spiritually; it beckons us to learn; and most importantly, it provides the services and programs that enable us to be all that we can aspire to be as Jews.

COS also provides numerous social opportunities, ranging from our annual Latkes & Vodkas Hanukkah party and Purim carnival to Men’s Club Scotch & Siddur, the Women’s Group book club and weekly Happy Holy Hour before Friday night services. We also have Tot Shabbats periodically throughout the year, catered to our little ones. We host Israeli teens each year, and for the past few years, have organized an incredible trip to Israel for some of our members. And we are involved in social action. For example, we are a Green Faith congregation and twice a year, we host homeless families from Family Promise.
