TBEMC will host author and disabilities Inclusion expert, Shelly Christensen for a weekend long series of educational programs and events. The event, titled ”Hineni: Here I Am– Autism, Jewish Education and Inclusion”, will take place from February 7-9, 2020 at the synagogue and is open to the entire Jewish community.
Over the course of the weekend, Christensen will guide participants through a Jewish lens as she educates the community about inclusion awareness for people with disabilities and mental health conditions. Participants will learn together as they strive to create an inclusive Jewish journey for all.
Speaker Shelly Christensen is a pioneer in the faith community disability inclusion movement. She is an international speaker, consultant, and author with her new book, “From Longing to Belonging: A Practical Guide to Including People with Disabilities and Mental Health Conditions in Your Faith Community” published last year. Christensen believes that people with disabilities and mental health conditions, and those who love them, want what anyone else wants—to belong, to contribute, and to be a valued member of their Jewish community.
There is no charge to attend any of the events. However, RSVPs are requested by 2/2/20 for the Friday evening dinner and Shabbat Kiddush lunch at inclusion@tbemc.org.
