United Nations International Holocaust Remembrance Day

75 Years after Auschwitz – Holocaust Education and Remembrance for Global Justice
January 27, 2020

11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
U.N. General Assembly Hall


This year is the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. Join the Holocaust Council, survivors, and the Greater MetroWest community for an important trip to the U.N. in New York City to be part of this historic event to keep alive the memories and lessons of the Holocaust.

Highlights will Include:

  • Musical performance by Itzhak Perlman
  • Keynote address by Judge Theodor Meron, former president of the United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals
  • Additional speakers include Holocaust survivors and key U.N. representatives
  • Ceremony hosted by Melissa Fleming, United Nations under-secretary-general for global communications

 

All are welcome, including middle- and high-school students. High-school students will receive community service hours for participation. Middle-school students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Transportation and kosher boxed lunch provided.
Busses will pick up and drop off at the JCC MetroWest, 760 Northfield Ave., West Orange
Departing punctually at 8:15 a.m. to allow sufficient time for traffic and U.N. security and returning at approximately 2 p.m.

All attendees need to bring photo ID.

We suggest a $36 donation to the 2020 UJA Annual Campaign per person attending this trip.
