What have we accomplished lately?

Our Outreach and Engagement Department has been in existence for a little less than a year.

Over the course of this year, as our lay and professional leadership worked to chart their course, set departmental and community priorities, and engage the community around their efforts, they’ve accomplished something really impressive.

They’ve started to connect with people where they are (literally and figuratively) by focusing on being both geographically diverse and hyperlocal. They’ve helped change the conversation from “what can you do for Federation?” to “what can Federation do for you?”

And, they’ve tried to make people feel like they matter by lowering barriers to entry and running programs and events that are relevant, unique, and fun. And guess what? It’s working!

A few impressive statistics:

  • We’ve held 27 events since last June, 19 of which were brand new. These events included our young leadership gatherings, our volunteerism programs, and our synagogue outreach initiative.
  • 834 people participated in these events.
  • 343 had never attended a Federation program before.

And that’s all just in 11 months! Mazal tov and kol hakavod (great job) to volunteer chair Mindy Goldberger and professional director Amy Wagner Biloon, and their teams. Stay tuned for more “good news” stories.
