Super Sunday is your opportunity to be a SuperStar

I volunteer for Super Sunday because…tell us why you do.
Picture this: big rooms filled with long tables and chairs. Banners everywhere. Balloons. Boxes to collect pledge cards. Coffee flows freely. Children eagerly hand out raffle tickets and a never-ending supply of candy. On the tables are telephones. And at the telephones are people, hundreds at one time, making a wonderful noise. Café Europa:
A Place Where Survivors Feel Secure and Wanted

November 8-9 marks the 76th anniversary of Kristallnacht, the Night of the Broken Glass. The organized pogrom against the Jews of Germany is widely considered to be the start of the Holocaust. Today, there are between 1,000-1,300 Holocaust survivors in our area. Their close friends, and the people they feel most comfortable with, are other survivors. Ness Loan Fund Allows Israeli Entrepreneur to Flourish

Israel, long known as the land of milk of honey, is also the land of entrepreneurs. One of them is Yossi Abergel, who got his start with the help of the Greater MetroWest federation and its Ness Loan Fund, which was created to strengthen businesses, develop employment opportunities in the Negev, and grant loans to the region’s new and existing businesses. read more

The Jewelry Ladies and Their “Home Away From Home”

They greet each other affectionately, and speak with the familiarity of long-time friends. Which they indeed are. Lilyan Feinman and Evelyne Lerner Savel are both 92. Friends at South Side High School in Newark in the late 1930s, they lost touch after they graduated. They reunited at the Margulies Senior Center at JCC MetroWest, a Federation partner agency. Now they are known as the “jewelry ladies.” read more
