Federation Strongly Condemns Last Week’s Acts of Extremism in Israel

August 4, 2015

The Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ is outraged by the heinous terror attacks committed in Israel last week. We condemn the firebombing in Duma, a Palestinian village in the West Bank, which killed Ali Saad Dawabshe, an 18-month-old Palestinian baby and severely injured his parents and siblings. We also condemn the murderous hate crime attack that injured five Israelis and killed 16-year-old Shira Banki at the 14th annual Jerusalem March for Pride and Tolerance. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families, and we pray for a swift and full recovery for all those injured.

We applaud the Israeli government for reacting quickly with widespread condemnation and the swift cabinet approval for additional measures to eradicate these horrific acts of intolerance and hatred. We call on law enforcement authorities to pursue with determination and bring to justice the people who committed these acts of terror.

  • Israeli President Reuven Rivlin
  • Statement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
  • Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest partners from Gush Etzion took the initiative toward conciliation and religious tolerance, and called for peace during a recent joint prayer session which you can watch in this video.
  • Daniel Gordis reflects about these events in his recent blog.
