  • Cafe Europa celebrates survivors’ fund

    The annual Lore Ross Cafe Europa Hanukka party, was, as always, a festive celebration of the holiday. But this year, it was something more; in addition to marking the Festival of Lights, guests also celebrated the more than $2 million raised locally by Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ toward a national effort to raise money for Holocaust survivors in need.

  • Advocates for seniors seek action on hunger

    An elderly disabled former health-care worker — whose photographs of her walker and medicine bottles are part of a new exhibit launched by the New Jersey Anti-Hunger Coalition — told a group of 25 people who had gathered at the Cooperman JCC in West Orange that she cannot afford both proper nutrition and the cost of her monthly medication.
