About Cecile

Cecile was a gift to the Holocaust Council of Greater MetroWest. A survivor herself, Cecile immigrated to the United States in 1954 and completed her education at Rutgers University. Married to Norbert Seiden, they had two daughters who married and gave them 10 grandchildren. After she retired from her position as educational director of the Summit JCC, Cecile devoted much of her time teaching children, youth, educators, and the general community about the Holocaust. A contributing editor to the Holocaust-Genocide curriculum of the State of New Jersey, she strove to impart the message that one person can make a difference. In addition to being an educator, Cecile was also a noted calligrapher and crafter.

About the Cecile Seiden Memorial Workshop for Educators

Each year, teachers gather at a conference to increase their understanding of various aspects of the Holocaust and learn new ways to teach it and its lessons. At the workshop, they are taught and inspired by fascinating presenters and master teachers. For more information, contact holocaustcouncil@jfedgmw.org
